D.U.F.E. Stories – Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern the submission and publication of stories by children (“Contributors”) to D.U.F.E. Stories, a project by Tangerine Carp (“Publisher”). By submitting a story, the Contributor (or their parent/guardian) agrees to these terms.
2. Submission Guidelines
- Stories must be original works of fiction written by children.
- The Publisher reserves the right to refuse any submission that it deems inappropriate, offensive, or unsuitable for publication.
- Submissions should be sent via the designated method on the Tangerine Carp website (https://tangerinecarp.co.uk/dufestories/).
3. Contributor’s Rights
- The Contributor retains full copyright and ownership of their submitted story.
- The Contributor grants the Publisher a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish the story as part of the D.U.F.E. Stories collection.
4. Publisher’s Rights and Obligations
- The Publisher has the right to publish the submitted story in a collection of short stories written by children of similar ages.
- The Publisher owns the copyright to the published collection as a whole.
- The Publisher will only sell the published collection on the Tangerine Carp website.
- The Publisher is under no obligation to publish every submitted story.
- The Publisher may, at its discretion, edit stories for clarity, grammar, and formatting, while maintaining the original voice and intent of the Contributor.
5. Payments
- No payment or compensation will be provided to the Contributor for the submission or publication of their story.
6. Consent and Parental/Guardian Approval
- For Contributors under the age of 18, submission must be made with the consent and approval of a parent or legal guardian.
- By submitting a story, the parent/guardian confirms that they have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions on behalf of the Contributor.
7. Limitation of Liability
- The Publisher shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the submission or publication of a story.
- The publisher will not be held liable for any claims of plagiarism made by a third party. The contributor and/or the contributing childs parent or guardian is soley responsible for the originality of the work submitted.
8. Governing Law
- These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
9. Changes to Terms and Conditions 1
- The Publisher reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be posted on the Tangerine Carp website.
